Tesla Charger Installation

Tesla Wall Connector installation — sized, mounted, and configured to charge at full speed.

What This Covers

This is installation of the Tesla Wall Connector, Tesla’s home Level 2 charger, on a dedicated 240-volt circuit. The current Wall Connector also charges non-Tesla EVs with the right adapter, and the Universal version adds a built-in adapter. The hardware is straightforward; the value is in sizing the circuit to the amperage you want, mounting it cleanly by the car, and configuring it so it charges at the speed your setup allows.

What to Consider First

Before installing a Wall Connector, consider the amperage you actually want, your panel’s spare capacity, the run from the panel to the parking spot, and whether more than one charger will share a circuit later, since Wall Connectors can power-share. Choosing the circuit size up front is what determines your charging speed. As with any Level 2 install, an older or already full panel may need some attention before the charger goes in.

How It's Installed

After a load calculation, the electrician installs a dedicated 240-volt circuit sized to the amperage you’ve chosen, mounts the Wall Connector right by the vehicle, and wires and commissions it, setting the breaker rating inside the unit so it charges safely at full speed. The work is then permitted and inspected. If the panel can’t support the desired amperage, the available options are explained clearly before anything at all is installed.

What Affects the Cost

As with any Level 2 charger, cost depends on the run length back to the panel, whether the panel itself needs an upgrade, and how the circuit is routed to the unit. The amperage you choose affects the wire and breaker sizing. The Wall Connector itself is either purchased separately or supplied. Rebates may apply in your area. We assess the panel and the route, then provide a firm written quote with upfront pricing.

Wall Connector vs Mobile Connector

Tesla’s Mobile Connector plugs into an outlet and is great for travel, but it charges noticeably slower and isn’t meant as a permanent, everyday solution. The hardwired Wall Connector charges faster, looks neatly built-in, and supports higher amperage and power-sharing between multiple units. For daily home charging, the Wall Connector is clearly the better setup; we size its circuit to the charging speed you actually want rather than to some default.

Tesla Charger Installation FAQs

Common questions about cost, timing, and permits for a panel upgrade.

Q. Can a Tesla Wall Connector charge non-Tesla cars?

The current Wall Connector can charge many non-Tesla EVs with the appropriate adapter, and the Universal Wall Connector includes a built-in adapter for broader compatibility. The circuit and install are the same either way.
A dedicated 240-volt circuit sized to the amperage you choose. The Wall Connector’s internal setting is matched to the breaker so it charges at full, safe speed for your wiring.
Yes. Wall Connectors support power-sharing, letting multiple units balance the available capacity on a circuit. That’s planned during installation so the wiring and settings support it.
