Edisons Local Electricians - Blue Moon Electrical

Trusted Electrical Services Backed by 20+ Years of Experience

Faulty or outdated wiring causes flickering lights, dead outlets, tripped breakers, and real fire danger. Blue Moon Electrical installs wiring for remodels and additions, repairs damaged circuits, rewires whole homes, and replaces hazardous aluminum wiring common in older houses. Our licensed electricians trace problems to the source, work to current code, and provide upfront written pricing after an on-site assessment — no guesswork.

Wiring work falls into two categories: fixing or extending what’s already there (installation and repair), and replacing what’s unsafe or outdated (whole-home rewiring and aluminum wiring replacement). We handle all four, and we’ll tell you plainly which one your home actually needs.

When Wiring Needs Attention

Warm outlets, scorch marks, a burning smell, lights that dim when an appliance starts, or two-prong outlets throughout the house all point to wiring that’s aging or undersized. In older homes, the wiring was never designed for modern demand, and decades of small additions can leave it unsafe. Catching it early turns a dangerous problem into a straightforward repair, and protects everything plugged into your home.

A single room with a recurring issue usually points to a repair. Problems that show up in multiple rooms, or a home that still has its original wiring, usually point to a full rewire — we’ll tell you which one you actually need after the assessment, not before.

What Era Is Your Wiring?

The age of a home is often the biggest clue to what’s behind the walls:

  • Knob-and-tube wiring: common in homes built before the 1940s. It has no ground wire, its insulation degrades with age, and it wasn’t designed for modern loads — most insurers and local codes require it to be replaced, not just added onto.
  • Aluminum branch wiring: common in homes built roughly between 1965 and 1973, when copper prices spiked and aluminum was used as a cheaper substitute for standard branch circuits (not the large aluminum feeder wires still used safely today). Aluminum expands and contracts more than copper, which loosens connections over time and is a recognized fire risk — this is what our aluminum wiring replacement service addresses.
  • Two-prong, ungrounded outlets: common in homes built before the mid-1960s, before grounded (three-prong) outlets became standard.

If your home falls into any of these windows, it’s worth having your wiring evaluated even if nothing seems obviously wrong yet.

Built Around Safety

We start by finding out what’s actually behind the walls — the age of the home, the wiring type, and whether the issue is isolated or systemic. For a repair, we trace the fault to its source rather than patching the symptom. For a rewire, we walk you through how the job is phased so your home stays livable throughout — typically room by room or circuit by circuit, not all at once.

You get upfront written pricing before anything is scheduled. We pull permits where required, complete every circuit to current code, and coordinate inspection so the work is documented and signed off — not just finished.

FAQ Section

How much does rewiring cost?

Both whole-home and partial rewiring start from $18 per square foot. Your exact price depends on your home’s size, wiring type, and access, which we confirm during a free on-site assessment.

Yes. Nearly all panel upgrades, replacements, and relocations require a city permit. We pull it for you as part of the job.

Aluminum branch wiring, common in homes built roughly between 1965 and 1973, is a recognized fire risk because it loosens at connections over time. It doesn’t need to be ripped out of every wall, but any connections should be inspected and corrected by a licensed electrician.

Knob-and-tube wiring is an older system found in homes built before the 1940s. It has no ground wire and wasn’t built for modern electrical loads, so most codes and insurers require it to be replaced rather than extended.

It depends on the size of the home and how the work is phased, but most whole-home rewires are done room by room or circuit by circuit so the home stays livable throughout the project. We’ll give you a specific timeline during your on-site assessment.

Yes. If the issue is isolated to a specific circuit or area, a targeted repair is usually enough. We’ll tell you honestly whether your home needs a repair or a full rewire after inspecting it.

Yes. All work is performed by licensed, insured electricians, C-10 licensed and fully licensed per the requirements of every state we operate in.
