How Many Historic Buildings are There in San Francisco?

While the total number of historic buildings across the entire city varies, our work focuses on the four primary historic districts that form the heart of San Francisco’s architectural identity: Alamo Square, Pacific Heights, Haight-Ashbury, and the Mission District.

These neighborhoods are home to thousands of iconic Victorian and Edwardian structures, including Queen Anne, Stick-Eastlake, Italianate, and Spanish Colonial Revival styles. Each district has specific requirements for restoration and maintenance:
